MIX457 -- Soda Can Leaf
Added to Favorite
xxxx

Photo Details
Poster: askloeblen

This is for the MIX457 (Fall colors) challenge. I used StazOn ink, a gold leafing pen, alcohol inks, dimensional gold paint, and an aluminum can.

This technique showed up on the Tim Holtz Addicts Facebook page in the last week or so. I just had to try it! And there is something similar in the SplitCoastStampers tutorials here: Pop Stars Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

Wash out an aluminum can (e.g., soda, beer, etc.) and CAREFULLY cut the top and bottom off the can using tin snips. Cut down the side so there is a flat sheet of aluminum. Die cut leaves out of aluminum (running through the Cuttlebug several times). Drip various alcohol inks directly on the back/shiny silver side of the aluminum can "leaves"; allow to dry.

Adhere Soft Suede cardstock to the front of a white cardstock base. Trim glossy white cardstock panel and punch the corners; edge with gold leafing pen. Adhere panel to the card front. Adhere one leaf to the glossy white panel using glue dots.

Stamp "blessings" using StazOn Jet Black ink. Die cut "Autumn" from Evening Evergreen cardstock. Adhere word to card front. Using stencil, spread gold dimensional paint in 3 corners. Thanks for looking!

And if you don't have pop cans (we rarely do) the sort of heavy disposable foil trays that you can buy for roasting are perfect for this too . And easier to cut than a can. Your leaf is stunning stunning. And the stencilled corners, I'd love to be able to feel those.

Great suggestion about using the heavy foil trays/pans! Much safer than aluminum cans... will have to give that a try.
