The father of a friend of ours recently passed away, so I made her this sympathy card. She is very much involved with her church, so I thought the lighthouse imagery would be fitting.
I began by determining the placement of the lighthouse, then added the mask for the light beam to my panel. I also masked off the water with yellow Frog tape. I blended Mustard Seed in the sun area in the middle. I added Seedless Preserves on either side, with a little Dusty Concord towards the outer edges. Above all that, I added a strip of Dried Marigold, & then Speckled Egg, Salty Ocean, & finally Chipped Sapphire. I removed the tape mask, & used it to mask off the sky. Then I ink blended the water with Salty Ocean for the middle part of the water, and added Chipped Sapphire for the "sides." I added the stencil for the light beam, removed the mask, & inked that area with Squeezed Lemonade.
After I'd finished all the inking on the sky & water, I used Black Soot to ink the bit of land. I stamped the lighthouse with Onyx Black ink. I had to stamp several times because of the paper's texture. I replaced the land stencil, & inked over that with Black Soot, to help the lighthouse bottom blend in better. Finally, I stamped the greeting & birds with Onyx Black, & adhered my panel to a white card base.
