Great challenge, Polly .. and I think I managed the SMILE by using a sentiment, mountain, ink, leaves, embossing.
After creating my background of mountains, grass and tree, I embossed it. It looks like canvas. Then I added my horse which is fussy cut and the stacked sentiement.

What a clever card with the canvas embossing! I thought it was done on canvas! Great coloring and I love that galloping horse. I'm sure Rex will love this card and it will bring back memories of the farm. It reminded me of a story he told me about a horse no one could ride, but him! Perfect! Thanks and many hugs!

Beautiful card; beautiful scenery; beautiful coloring and that horse image is fabulous. Love the texture you added with ef. Fabulous card for anyone, but this should be especially meaningful to Rex.
