Let's just say this doesn't resemble my original sketch much at all and as watercolors tend to do for me this took on a life of it's own as I painted. I'm torn about the addition of the ink - some areas really benefited from it - some *shoulder shrug*
I have never actually SEEN a lighthouse - none here in the desert nor where I grew up in the Nebraska farmlands - lol - so my lighthouse is from what I remember from movies.

Linda, your painting has a lovely fresh quality...which I think is something that separates watercolor from other mediums. Looks like early dawn over a Great Lake. I also like your torn edges and vignette presention of your scene.

What a lovely lighthouse scene. When we were on a USA trip on the West Coast in 2003 our visit to a lighthouse in Washington state didn't happen as the fog rolled in so quickly and stayed for the rest of our trip. Have seen others though!

Wow, my friend! This is a stunner! Your lighthouse is amazing! I am so impressed because as you know, I opted for a stamp! I was also too chicken to add rocks so I went with splatters! This is really beautiful!

Not sure what your first sketch looked like, but this one is terrific. You have everything in proportion and you did it freehand. I applaud you. Your painting looks like a wash as it should. Attracted to the rock structure with the inking. The torn edges give it that artistic look. Always enjoy your original creations. Glad you played this week. For never seeing a real lighthouse, you did one great job. TFS

Linda, your memory is just fine... I have seen a few and this looks fabulous I love that the sky has so much colors like a real changing of the day times too.

I think it came out lovely. As Linda says, the proportions are good, and that is always the hardest part for me. (I don't have a lot of experience around lighthouses either, and I'm sure I could sketch one without an example in front of me.)
