This weeks Clean & Simple Challenge ( CAS651 - 10 Minute Card - 8/16/2021) was to make a card in 10 minutes or less AND keep it Clean & Simple!
It may not sound that challenging to make a card in 10 minutes or less, until you set the timer and get started! I made more than one card today, intending them to take 10 minutes or less and this is the ONLY card that qualified.
I figured out early on in the process that quick is not always Clean & Simple and that Clean & Simple is not necessarily quick!.I have a few yet-to-be-finished cards on my desk as a result of this challenge, but that is a story for another timeâ¦
This card was a breeze to assemble once I had the dry embossed panel cut to size and colored using TIm Holtz Distress Oxide ink (Salvaged Patina) and a flat-bottomed round makeup style brush by Nuvo.
The flat bottomed brush is amazing to use. It floats across the tops of the dry embossed areas on a panel with very little effort, and the lighter the touch the better it works! It took less than 2 minutes to color the dry embossed sweet pea design - easy peasy!
I added a white layer in back of the embossed panel to frame it and finished off with a curvy tag, crinkled seam binding bow and a few multi sized sequins. Done in 10!!!
Admittedly, I wanted to putz around a bit more with this card - a butterfly would have been nice addition or a bird or a bee. Alas, none of these were an option for a 10 minute card, sequins were challenging enough!
Thanks so much for popping by to look at my 10 Minute Blooming Sweet Pea garden. Why donât you join us? Bet you would have fun!

Beautiful card and I love the soft color/look. Thanks for the tip about the flat bottom brush. I have tried coloring embossed images before I found them a bit challenging. I will have to give your method a try as it sounds easier and your card looks great so it looks like it does a better job too. Beautiful design.

I love this new oxide color and you have used it well to make such a charming card, Susy. Good to know about the Nuvo brush! Thank you! I hear ya on the 10 min. thing, lol. Love reading your write up. This turned out beautifully though. Love the sequin and ribbon touches and the wavy sentiment. And now I must have the sweet Pea e.f. lol. Thanks for the enabling!

What an amazing ten minute card, Susy! I didn't realize how difficult it was going to be to make a ten minute card until I sat down to do it, so I'm not surprised you went over on your other cards. I love everything about this one!
