This card was made for challenge that required a "fall harvest" theme.
I had seen a very pretty card made by Nancy Riley way back in 2009, and tried to recreate it using what supplies I had on hand. Her original card can be found on her blog at: http://stampinat6213.blogspot.com/20...lry-color.html
I started by deciding I wanted to use deep rich colors that were shimmery for the majority of my card. So I turned to a 2013 paper pad by DCWV full of just the kind of papers I needed. I really liked the blue and purple striped paper on Nancy's card, so I recreated it using a panel of navy shimmery cardstock and glued thin strips of purple shimmery cardstock on top of it.
While that was drying, I worked on the circle element. I started by hand coloring the pheasant stamp from the 2009 Stampin' Up! (SU) "Autumn Days" set. I used five different Stampin' Write marker colors (listed below) to color the stamp. This method gives a light impression, so I used my Stamparatus stamp positioner to recolor and re-stamp three times. The heads of wheat are from the same stamp set as the pheasant. I stamped on masking paper and fussy cut the pheasant image to cover the bird while I stamped the wheat. I used two different colors of ink to stamp these around the pheasant (stamping off on some of them). Then using circle dies I cut out the pheasant. The sentiment is from SU "Good Greetings". It is stamped with SU Cajun Craze ink.
The pheasant circle and it's yellow mat were also die embossed to make the stitching stand out more, and to create a mat that had some dimension.
Before gluing any elements down, I wrapped a piece of yellow ribbon around the top of the striped panel and attached the ends to the back. I also cut off the bottom 3/4" of the striped panel to allow some of the orange card base to shop thru when I glued them onto the card front. I matted the short piece with the same yellow as I matted the circle and blued both striped pieces to the card base.
Finally, I used foam tape to attach the circle element, and three yellow enamel dots on the bottom striped section. A short piece of yellow ribbon was used to tie a simple knot on the yellow ribbon at the top.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "3" out of a possible "5" just because I had to create the striped panel from scratch. If you have your own pattern paper already at hand, the difficulty would drop to a "2".
