A patriotic take on the Canvas bouquet project with this July birthday card. (card #1). The blue portions of these flowers (not intended to be botanically accurate) are not quite as dark as they appear in this photo.
Both cards, it satisfies me to say, were made with supplies I had on-hand! For depth, flower centers were made with hand-punched foam-tape and cardstock glued together. The layer behind my flowers was cut from tracing paper as I didn't have any vellum in my stash. The red and white flowers were cut from printer paper.
I had fun with this project and practiced new skills with my machine--like editing a file in CWS to include text for the inside greeting. (Thanks to The Gentleman Crafter for his helpful video tutorial.) I also learned a few lessons (the hard way) with regard to careful pre-planning on a card like this.
For example, is the base stock sturdy enough to carry the weight of heavy embellishment without flopping over? In the case of my cards, it was not. No worries, I improvised by layering the back portion with another piece of stock and inserting a heavier stabilizing strip between the layers.
