Kia, what a marvelous Inspiration Challenge this week! Fashion: wearable, sketchable, sewable, paintable...thank you. It was this gorgeous dress that was the one.
It was grand fun to work my fashionable lady into the sketch this week, Cathy! I do love to take creative license with the elements. Hope you can see the basic shapes there.
I started with a base of a glittered purple paper that was dry embossed with Tim's Sewing EF. I sanded the paper to reveal the pattern even more. The B Line Designs woman was paper pieced with Memory Box DP. I added 'glass' buttons, a 'diamond' necklace made with Stickles 'Starlight' and touched up the color of her hair.
The quote: You were born an Original, Don't die a copy. It was stamped onto a scrap of AI and embossed in clear.
I must admit I lament the days of my mother when gloves were worn as well a hat to lunch, bridge club, and of course church on Sunday. I miss watching my mother getting ready...I can almost smell her 'Evening in Paris' (smile...not really)! I've had my cycles of fashion for myself. Now it's gardening clothes or cycling attire. How about you?
Thanks so much for your comments...I appreciate the gift of your time and memories!

Oh Susan ... your elegant lady had me smiling as she popped right out of the gallery ... and then I read 'Evening in Paris' and my eyes started leaking ... I am 10 years old again watching MY mother getting ready to go out and dabbing the perfume ... Thanks for the walk down memory lane x x

Susan this is another awesome original creation. Your lady oozes class. Love her necklace. The BG is gorgeous and sentiment perfect. I also long for days past. Now when I get out my heels I can only go as far as from the car into the restaurant and back lol. Thanks for the memory. Happy day and hugs

I start to type, go back and look ... type again ... look again ... type ... look - well you get the idea. I love this. I never thought of dry embossing glitter paper and then sanding it off, how creative. Your 'dress up' story is so true, and now it's a lost art. Your lady is very classy and love that sentiment. So amazing o-RE

Beautiful creation!! I love the technique to sand of the glitter paper and loved to read about your mother and her "Evening in Paris" I don't think my mother used perfume when I was young, if she did, I don't remember, I usually wear baba cool clothing, but sometimes I like to have an elegant outfit too

Yes, my gma's dressing room was such a color fest of gorgeous ness. I loved all the pots and jars and such. ( my mama is a jeans and tee shirts chick in rebellion) and so, I have migrated to that status over the last decade. I think my jars of colorful buttons and glitters on the walls in my studio are patterned after my gma's dressing room.
This is a gorgeous creation Susan.

I can always tell which card is yours in the gallery Susan! An eclectic collage of wonderful things that tell your story! What a lovely fashion woman with the sweater draped casually over her shoulder and super sentiment! Since retiring - I'm all about casual and comfort, I used to wear bracelets all the time with my work outfits - now it's just 3 rings (the same worn all the time) and earrings!

How lovely, Susan! I adore vintage fashion images & sewing patterns. They always remind me of my aunt who sewed prolifically. The colors are wonderful & so is the quote.
