This birthday card is for my friend Linda who loves wine, the beach and yellow; and, was inspired by Linda (bubblestx4) who's wine label card propelled me to buy that stamp. Here's her card that inspired mine: In Vino Veritas by bubblestx4 at Splitcoaststampers
I had stamped and cropped the wine label for another project but decided it was too small so I set it aside. I had wanted to make a faux wood bg with a weathered beach look and thought this might be good as a "wine barrel". I am really pleased with the look of the these DOXs on this panel. I hope you can see the labels peeking through the DOX -- it does show up IRL. Stamped, colored, die cut and glued the flowers, bottle and sentiment. The bottle was a random Google search clipart that I fussy-cut. Because the panel was smaller than A2 and the colors are hard to match, I inked the edge of an A2 size white cs with Speckled Egg and then with Smoked Hickory. It was too flat so I stamped the wood plank bg and that helped a bunch. I glued two pieces of heavy card stock behind the main panel to give it a bit of depth against the card base.
If I were to do this again: (1) I would use a full A2 panel with no border; (2) I would use Distress Ink instead of DOX as they are more translucent so I think the label would show through better and maybe stamp the label in black instead of green; (3) I would make the bottle a touch larger.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope our day is filled with wine, yellow and whatever else you love. Hugs.

The grey with the honey undertones really does make a nicely weathered oaken barrel look. The labels really are subtle (at least in the picture) so starting with a deeper color on those could make the difference or perhaps overstamping if you leave the stamp in your misti / stamp positioner. I like your spray of sunny flowers.

Debbie, thank you so much for leaving that nice comment on my card today. I appreciate that so much. I quickly scanned through your SCS gallery and just loved this card that you made. You colored the flowers beautifully and that background wood panel is really well done too. I plan on ordering that MFT wood panel stamp and try to duplicate your look. Thanks for the inspiration.
