Today's Tea Party is for Linda (Hotwheels) We're sending some kind words and encouragement as we mark the second anniversary of her dear mother's passing. Polly is our hostess and she has challenged us to make our cards with something that reminds us of our own mother. When I read that Linda and her mother liked tea, I knew I had to make a tea party card. I get my tea drinking habit from my mom. I remember when I was growin up, she always had a cup of tea on the table while she sewed, and now so do I. Well, except for the sewing. I wish I had picked up the sewing skills too. This ended up being a combination of last week's MIX Challenge to paper piece with mixed media backgrounds, because I was looking at the teacups and thinking they would look good paper-pieced. I had small strips of paper that I had used to soak up the watercolor from yesterday's TLC birds, and just went with it. I'm really happy with the way it came out and I hope Linda loves it too.

Your paper pieced cups are so pretty! I love how they turned out. What a wonderful card and perfect for Linda especially how you and your moms liked tea.

Love the look you created with the paper piecing on the teacups. They look both colorful and delicate. Wonderful card and I'm sure Linda will have a big smile when she opens your envelope. Wonderful card.

Tea and sewing - um, no. Probably even worse than tea and cards. It's funny - when we were growing up the first sound from the kitchen in the morning was always the coffee grinder, but I didn't start drinking it till I was in my late teens. We had Lapsang Souchong tea the other night for a change and it instantly transported DH back to when we were dating - I just gave it to him as a matter of course back then without thinking that he would have grown up on basic teabags. Our regular teas were Earl Grey, Lapsang, Gunpowder Green, Darjeeling...
Great piecing - and I love the sparkle on the flowers.

Oh, no beverages other than water allowed around my mother's sewing projects. I remember her washing the floor 3 times before laying out the fabric for my wedding dress. (The satin was too slippery for our small table)
Lovely card. Great paper piecing done with beautiful paper. Love it!
