Mary has a lovely little combination of colors for us this week: Rococo Rose, Bumble Bee, and Just Jade with Mother's Day or a feminine card as dessert.
Though I knew that I would use flowers to lead my card down the feminine path, my first step was to pull out my ink pads and check to see if there were any neutrals I particularly like with them. I was thinking gray but it was Crumb Cake that really seemed like it might set the colors off. Problem was... I usually love to use colored pencils on Crumb Cake since the color generally stands out against the Crumb Cake or kraft color. And none of my colored pencils was technically part of the combination. So I played around until I thought I had good approximations: Cherry Cobbler Watercolor pencils with a light touch stands in for Rococo Rose and Garden Green that is cooled off a little with a layer of Bermuda Bay covers for Just Jade - both using a little white to lighten as needed. Daffodil Delight over Crumb Cake gets just enough added depth to look like Bumble Bee.
This little sprig of flowers is a sneak peek of Hand-Penned Petals, a new SU set. I tried it once with no line coloring but then decided it looked better with gold embossing.
Thank you for peeking. I look forward to seeing what you come up with using Mary's pretty combination!

Chris, I love your touch of Crumb Cake on the Tasteful Textile embossing folder. You are quite the genius in combining your pencil colors to create the right shade needed for this week's challenge. Beautiful creation, TFS

I love the white over crumb cake (used it on my card this week, too!). Very pretty layout on this lovely, feminine card. Thanks for the sneak peek at the new set!

This is stunning Chris!! I adore the folder you used with white ink? Is that what you used? It has a burlap look and then coupled with the gold embossing - it's the bees knees!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
