Martina (aka Martinaskaartjes) is this week's Featured Stamper and she has a wonderful Gallery filled with joyful and happy cards celebrating so many occasions. I love that she has personalized so many of those cards as well. My MFT Dahlia stamp is one of my favorites, so this was naturally the card I chose to CASE: Yellow birthday by Martinaskaartjes at Splitcoaststampers
I kept her stripes by stamping an old HA stamp. Quick tip: some of HA's older cling stamps as well as some other companies use a plastic like substance for the backing. These do not want to "cling" well to a block or my storage sheets. I read this a long time ago and it works for me: Smear a bit of bees wax (I use Burt's Bees lip balm) on the back and then press it down. It works for me; I hope it helps you too.
I felt I needed something in the bg since I didn't have a big fun sentiment stamp like Martina's so I stamped the butterfly garden bg stamp -- and, really, I wanted to justify buying yet another bg stamp. My favorite gray stamp pad has died (teardrop) and I haven't replaced it yet so I used the DOX gray I had. It was flat so I decided to clear emboss it. It doesn't show up well here, but it definitely looks better embossed. FYI, I don't think you can emboss DOX -- at least I can't. I was using a Misti, so after I got the gray image I wanted, I hit the DOX with a heat gun and then reinked the image several times with Versamark for the embossing.
I thought of changing my flower to blue but yellow is such a happy, celebratory color I stayed with Martina's colors. I added a small piece of white cs under the flower just to give it some separation from the busier bg. Added sentiment and done.
Congratulations Martina. You have a wonderful Gallery and many cards to inspire. I hope you enjoy your week as Featured Stamper, And, I wish everyone a happy day filled with happy colors. TFL.

I'm glad you stuck with the yellow because this color combo of black, white, gray, and yellow is beautiful. Gorgeous card! Dahlias are my favorite flowers, but, alas, my bulbs all grew mold over the winter. I'll have to go buy some new ones.

Love your beautiful Dahlia and the background is so pretty. I always love stripes. Thanks for the tip with the wax...don't remember seeing that one before. Smiling about justifying the need for buying another stamp. We all do it. Also, had a laugh about the comment on my beach card about that sand. Reminded me of a little girl in the family who couldn't stand the sand and always put on a pair of boots to go play in the sand at the beach. She was about three or four yrs. old. I still think about her in the little swimsuit and boots. LOL
