This panel is for Nancy's MMJ challenge to use corrugated cardboard, and I am also putting it against the Alpha challenge X = xtra as there's so much stash used on this it's definitely got lots of extra's LOL.
I also took inspiration for the theme and colours from a FB page that Nancy told me about that has monthly challenges called Mission Inspiration. This one was for March on Machines, cogs, etc.
I love the effect corrugated cardboard gives and don't know why I don't use it more. I certainly have a lot of it from saving delivery boxes...say no more!
After tearing the cardboard box and finally getting down to the corrugated part and leaving strips of paper on it for added texture, I added black gesso and also a border of drywall tape. Dripped and sprayed various blue inks and added paint in places.
Tore a dictionary page on Time and plonked that on the panel adding cheesecloth underneath various elements. More spraying. The cogs/chipboards had all been primed with black gesso previously and added those and more inks and paints....there's a lot of layers. The theme was also to use metallic paints and I used these around and on the cogs/wheels, finally using various coloured waxes. The photo doesn't do it justice but the wax gives an aged look.
Added my emphera and then some red ink which was one of the colours for the Mission challenge. I decided not to have too much red but added red bling.
The metal alpha letters have been in my stash for at least 20 years and it was time to use them. As they were small I die cut some cogs using a cog die set I had forgotten about and never used. So good to finally get it out and use it. Added the letters on top of the cogs and added more inks as the letters were very shiny. Added more paint, metallics and wax in places and distressed my emphera. Phew and done. I had fun creating this.
TFL. Happy day everyone

Jayne I love it, especially all the cogs and clocks. The corrugated paper does add so much texture with the cheesecloth and the blue with the gold is a good combo

My eye caught the hint of cogs in the gallery and I just had to open this immediately! Be still my steampunk heart!! Everything about this collage just calls to me including the bold blend of metallic looking colors on your corrugated piece. (If I could fav this twice, I would!)
