IC799 - Homebnc - thought I spent 10 minutes looking at fun stuff on that board, but it was an hour and 10 minutes! I pinned a bunch of great home ideas - wow. This picture inspired my stenciling although you can't see the arrows very well after my items were added - there are three of them - two at the top and one at the bottom. I had already made the the scrabble tiles and cardboard last night and needed something else so this was just perfect inspiration:
MMJ017 - Corrugated Cardboard Mixed Media - it is about time I made this since this was my idea - LOL! If you haven't ever participated in the MMJ challenges here on SCS - we would love to have you come hang out with us.
Mission Inspiration - a Facebook Challenge by Mike Deakin Art - this was the mid month challenge and the prompt is Repeat - copy, reuse, repeat. I have three TH dolls, I repeated the stencil arrows three times, and I think the corrugated cardboard patterns, the scrabble tiles, and the two lines of border faux sewing work.
**ART*JOURNAL*JOURNEY* - single flower - that is why there is a giant flower on this page - lol.
If you are still with me the story behind this is a series of things that recently happened. My daughter found a free app where you scan in a picture and it brings it to life. She spent all last weekend bringing old pictures to life. She did one of my Mother and I watched that thing and cried for hours. I realized that app can be dangerous.
Then my daughter brought me over an old box that was at my Mom's house (my daughter recently moved in there). It was full of old photos from my Grandmother, my Mom and me. I was in that box for hours as well. I traveled down many memory lanes and another few hours were gone.
Then the words came to me: The Past is a Dangerous Muse. This page started coming to life. The picture here is circa 1965. The boy on the left slammed my finger in a door sometime around the time of this picture. It cut off the tip of my finger. The doctors sewed it back on but it is definitely different than my other fingers. The little girl next to him is my Sister Sara. I lost her a few years ago when her mother-in-law hired someone to kill her. The girl next to her was my best friend Tina - she was one of my favorite friends of all time. I still think of her and wish we could have stayed close. I am sitting next to her.
So interesting what captures our time and inspires us. Many hugz

Nancy this looks even more amazing than when I saw it earlier today. I only saw a small part of it and loved it then. I love the tile letters and the repeat of items. The stitching is a perfect touch. Your MM is amazing. Awesome work as always and no it doesn’t need cheesecloth lol. I always put way too much on my panels. Yours is perfect. I love the pop of colour from the library card. Thank you for sharing your journey on how this evolved and for sharing your personal journey. I so love seeing your work. Thanks for the chat. Big hugs and happy weekend

Wow- this is an amazing piece and so full of stories, texture and interesting features! I love that you added stitching, the three TH figures and the tiles for the sentiment. Love the printed vellum hiding the library card as well. Just incredible! How awesome to have a program that brings photo's to life! Your journey has had some rocky roads and you have made beautiful art with your memories!

Nancy, what an interesting post about how this all came to be created. What a journey you have travelled. I love your tiles and your photo is such a treasure. You are a mixed media queen and I always love seeing your art work. Yes, we did o.k. with the storms....just so much rain. I thought of you during the bad weather and hope all was well.

Those tile letters (Scrabble?) were so interesting on the wall, but so much more interesting on your project today. You are amazing, mf!!

Wow! I have no words, Nancy! And I totally get it about the past being a dangerous muse. But it also brings joy to remember those no longer w/ us or around us.

Oh my gosh, Nancy, what a treasure this picture is and how beautifully you have preserved the memories it evoked in this gorgeous collage. Your talent with mixed media is a perfect workshop to showcase all your amazing vintage photos. As a lover of family history, I can't wait to see what else you create! Love this so much!!!
