For the VSN Hostess challenge we had to create a card that depicted a favorite childhood memory. We were raised on a farm and never took a vacation, ever! So my favorite thing to do was riding horses. My favorite chore was to go get the cows in the summer and loved when they were turned out to the prairie meadow. It looked huge and when I sat in that maple tree by the house I could watch the wind move the plant life and pretend it was the ocean. In my card that would be Cookie and I heading back to the path after the cows have spent their time in the pond down there on the left. Up the hill on the right just out of the photo is the little cemetery where the old homesteader and his wife are buried. The flowers represent the ones that grew wild on the meadow and the ribbon – well, that’s for the silly dresses my mother would try to get me in when company was coming. I always managed to get back inside and into blue jeans before the day was over.
My coloring is not that great but hey we only had forty five minutes to finish. This is portions of two main stamps and small stamps to finish off the landscape. Watercolor crayons for coloring.
I tie and heat the ribbon before it goes on the card and tape it to the back.

This is gorgeous Roxie! Wow! I love your description. It really made me feel like I was there. I could almost see you sitting in the maple tree by your house. I love how you incorporated the ribbon for the silly dresses your mom always made you wear. Just beautiful job!

Stunning. I love it.... it certainly did bring you back to your childhood, didn't it... it totally reminded me of the time I'd spend on my grandparent's farm in the summer. They didn't have horses, but my aunts would take me out for walks in the pasture where the cows were.... fun stuff.
