Kia is the hostess for the watercolor challenge this week. She has chosen this video
My usual brush for watercoloring is the round brush. This artist uses a flat or oval brush. It worked well to get the look of the large soft petals of a hollyhock. Chose to stencil the background. Come join us and have some fun watercoloring. TFL

Beautiful creation of hollyhocks, Linda. Your leaves and buds look great.

Wow! This is so beautiful! I love the hollyhocks on a tall card! I thought about stenciling my background but I wasn't sure I wouldn't mess it up. I love your stenciling and your hollyhocks are fabulous!

I am just realizing you have decided to use the long, slimline card shape. That was pretty smart, so you have more room to develop your flowers. Great job with this, Linda.

Another lovely painting with those showy pink blooms. Fabulous job on the leaves - you got a wonderfully natural flow to them and the stenciled bg adds lots of interest.
