I used a line drawing to do my Hollyhocks. When I hand draw everything ends up much bigger than the paper! It is not as loose as I would have liked, but I can always try again. You can find the video for this watercolour . I have more information, links and pictures that are blogged here.

Beautiful, Kia - I think you were smart to start with a line drawing - freehand (at least for me) was incredibly difficult. I especially like the shapes and shadings on your leaves and buds - they have a lovely realistic look and flow.
