I really enjoy discovering old stamps in my wood mounted stash. I don't have a good way to store them and I'm not very tidy that way anyway. But I do have a bag of various wood mounted bug/insect stamps and low and behold, here is my cicada. 2021 will be the year of the cicada for 15 states east of the Mississippi but not Wisconsin. So listen for something quite loud in about May. Cicadas have been living underground for 17 years, wingless, drinking tree sap. They're coming out to say 'hi!'
I used some dp to stamp them on (the dp is a honey comb!), stamped some vanilla cs with three different foam stamps using acrylic paint and used that for the side strip and partial circle. This is also for yesterday's sketch, which I quite like. Thanks for that.

Oh, the gold on the dark background is fab. It's one of the things DH doesn't like about camping in southern France, I think it's just part of life, and I was fascinated one year to watch some of them emerging from their chrysalises in the early mornings, as normally they're almost impossible to see. The popped-up sentiment is fun - made me think of the speech bubbles in Richard Scary's books. My brother loved the bugs in those.

How fun to have a Cicada stamp! Great Do to add your bugs to... We had a few of these bugs this past summer, hope they skip us here as well! The little kids sure get a kick out of finding their skin/shells around though!
