I found the coolest Facebook group headed up by Mike Deakin. It is called Mission Inspiration and he provides art journaling prompts each month. The coolest thing is he does it in a video which is all done to look like a self destructing message and he has such a great accent - I have watched the video for February 10 times! I think I may watch it again too.
The composition inspiration is 3 colors, plus numbers, tissue paper, a silhouette, a die cut, and more. So fun.
So I won't go into all the details of how this was made but I will tell you I felt like a chemist covering my base layer of botanical tissue paper with a mixture I made of gray chalk paint, glazing medium, and clear gesso. I was trying to do steel gray which was one of the colors, but I was trying to keep some of the tissue paper design showing. After I was done, I realized that my gray was not right so I covered it all with white craft ink, but that wasn't right so I brushed on some vintage photo. Looked like gray leather. So cool! Then it just took off from there.
Ended up being about my beefs on aging...the ones I am trying to find ways to overcome. I know it is possible because so many of my friends (here and elsewhere) have done it. It is the sagging skin and feeling of being invisible that get me - I have bought some fun sunglasses and tipped my gray hair black, but I need something else. Maybe a new wardrobe? Some Boom make up? It is a path we all have to walk - I am hoping I get through the path soon. Thanks for looking!

Love this amazing page! Just enamored by the great look of that brick work you have created! And, your journey on aging... you forget to mention the aches & pains... lol.

Wow Nancy this is awesome work and now I will have to check out Mike’s FB page. I follow his YouTube’s but that’s all lol. You are beautiful inside and out. I say embrace aging, saggy boobs, batwing arms, exploding hips and tummies and veined legs lol. I keep telling our DILs it is better to age elegantly and gracefully than keep having Botox lol. Love your work my dear friend. Hugs TFS. Happy day
