Today's Tea Party is for Kristin, who just lost an eye to melanoma. I have always associated that cancer with the skin; I didn't know it could attack your eyes as well.
Among many things, Kristen likes yoga so today's challenge is to make a card that is "zen". When I think of Zen, I think of water, so I dragged out my watercolor pencils and tried out my new found skill at streaking. It's not really a skill as this does not look like the still clear pond I imagined in my head. But, I do like the way it looks, so I'm saying "streaking" is still my thing. LOL.
I also associate Zen with the Lotus Flower. I found this simple one (simple is Zen too) on Etsy. It's popped up on foam tape for a bit of dimension.
In Zen Buddhism the Lotus symbolizes purity. For me, though, I think of it as the symbol of openness. The blooms close up every afternoon and through the night and then reopen each morning. That act of reopening is a reminder to me to keep an open heart and to not stay closed off.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a wonderful day and that you will open yourself to something new and beautiful today. Namaste.

Your sweeping streak technique is wonderful and am inspired to give it a try. Your lovely lotus, floating along sends a very nice message from your heart.

Oh gosh, that background is beautiful, Debbie. Yep, water is definitely calm and peaceful - and even on stormy days there's something about it. I miss that I never even got to walk by the sea once last year. The single white bloom floating on your blue is perfect for the serenity sentiment.
