Goodness, it is time for our first TeaPotter Swap of 2021! Jean (jkanack) has brought us an artist that lived her life HER way and we are the richer for it! Check out Jean's commentary for the details.
To say I was deeply moved by Mary's art is an understatement. There are so many articles and photos of her work. Here are two that spoke to me.
The first, scroll down to the second photo and continue to scroll down from Mary to the photo of her living room. I loved there were different kinds of chairs and I couldn't help but recall Henry David Thoreau's quote:
A house needs these chairs: Ones for solitude, Ones for friendship and then those for society!
And so I set about to create a room Mary would feel comfortable in! My windows are from pages of two very fine catalogs, both looking out to water. I selected three very diverse chairs to represent the quote. I love chairs and can't really count the number of different ones I have in my home!
If you have wondered about my red mushroom hanging upside down, it's my chandelier for the lake house room...Mary would have loved it! Resourceful, an early recycler, an eye for the beauty of all nature, what a charmed life she lived. I believe she would have loved our TeaPotter group...can you just imagine what her card would be?
Thanks so much for looking...I'd love to know which chair you'd pick...or tell me about your most favorite chair...

Gahhhhhhhh I'm absolutely blown away with this creativity. I'm so happy you've embraced Mary's essence. Don't we both love that Thoreau sentiment??!! I do because of you. Someday I'll sit in one of your chairs.

What great chairs you feature here - and while I would probably let myself sink into that overstuffed chair for both solitude and comfort, I must say that I am intrigued by the moon & stars chair (I might put an unwanted guest on that as it looks stilted and uncomfortable to sit on but sure fun to look at!)

Love the windows you found for your background. I too was drawn to those interior scenes - though I confess I was busy looking at the mobiles (and indeed the chairs) and didn't notice the chandelier. But I did notice and love yours. The middle chair looks perfect for curling up with a good book, and I love that there is good lighting. For knitting, I'll join the moon!

It's funny how we both focused on the chairs in her house! HA! I guess we like to be comfortable in our surroundings. I love the view here from your chairs vantage points...the wonderful lake view and also the view up to that marvelous mushroom chandelier (at first i thought it was lips..ha!) I would pick the comfy chair in the middle...I would get a great view of the moon chair! GREAT card!

You created a room for Mary. That is such a clever way to approach this challenge, and I love the chair photo that inspired you. She was definitely a lady with eclectic tastes.
