This is my sample for CC828. Chris is our hostess and she chose daffodil delight, basic gray and smoky slate as her color trio. Dessert Option this week is something that moves.
I thought I would make a Valentine card in these non-traditional colors. I was able to get it done and I like the outcome.
I used last week's SCS sketch #837 for my layout. I made another Valentine card using this same layout. You can see that one here.
I stenciled my stripes for the background using the classy stripes stencil from Altenew with daffodil ink.
The Prancing Horse die is from CottageCutz and part of the new Circus collection. I cut it in the challenge colors and for his saddle and reins I used night of navy designer paper from the Stampin'-Up "see a silhouette" collection. This piece had an ombre effect which worked out great for the accessories.
The "be my valentine" phrase is cut in designer paper from the Stampin'-Up "artistry blooms" collection. This is another piece with the same ombre effect.
For elements e & 4 of the sketch, I cut daffodil cardstock 1/2" x 7 1/2" and embossed it with a hearts folder. The "no horsin around" sentiment is computer generated
That's it for my card. I hope you can play along. Love to see what you will create with these colors.

What a great non-traditional valentine! Perfect for many that I can think of. I love that you used that silhouette paper for the saddle - that pattern is one of my all time favorites - and your use of it here is SO interesting. It makes that perfect shadow.

Love your Valentine... who says a Valentine has to be red? This will bring a smile and deliver a lot of love to it's recipient! The sentiment is right on with your dancing horse! Cute card!

I love this prancing horse, and am chuckling over the computer-generated pun! Clever you! You always turn a sketch into a great card--something I really need to work on! I especially like the stenciled stripes in the background. What a fun Valentine's card!
