My heart is heavy for this week's Tea Party recipient, Paul, who lost both his wife and mother last month to COVID. Our mission this week is to transport Paul to the Orient.
For me, the iconic Asian art is a watercolor picture of Mt. Fugi with cherry blossoms. Now, I can't draw a lick, but I thought I might manage a big lump on a page. I am thrilled that I got the proportions as good as I did. I found a simple picture and tried to copy the shadows, etc. I used watercolor pencils because I thought it would easier for me to sketch things in before I applied the brush. The actually watercoloring is really just ok, but I'll take it. Somehow I managed to get a mark (the wrong color of course) in the snow and a very good thumbprint on the dark mountain base. The thumbprint is mostly corrected with more water, but the mark is strategically hidden behind the die cut. Thank goodness for embellishments. I am chuckling right now, because this is one of those rare occasions for me when the scan of the card looks better than the real card. LOL. I hope Paul isn't an art lover.
For me, the mountains are always a source of peace and spiritual connection. I really can't imagine what Paul is going through, but I hope the cards and prayers he receives this week give him some solace. I hope you find peace and love throughout your day too. TFL.

I think you did a marvelous job on your hand drawn watercolored Mt. Fuji. I recognized it immediately so I'd say pat yourself on the back for a job well done. The die cut Cherry blossoms are a great touch.

You did wonderful drawing and water coloring this mountain, Debbie! Beautiful blooms on your tree branch to separate the mountain from the sea/land. I like the hint of purple in the sky~

You did a perfect job on this! Your water coloring is awesome. Love the mountain and the sky is beautiful, too. My prayers go out to this person. May he find peace during this long difficult road he must travel...

Debbie, I think you did a fantastic job here. It makes me think of the psalm - I will lift up mine eyes to the hills. I know our help doesn't come from there, but I agree, mountains are definitely special. I like the sentiment in white - the colour scheme is definitely very peaceful.

My first thoughts upon seeing this in the gallery: Someone painted that mountain! Your "lump" is very well done and not something I would ever have attempted. Lovely card with all the right elements.
