Sabrina invited us to try a mixed media technique 'Layered Gesso Background'. I have a love/hate relationship with mixed media and was surprised to find I actually had the items to join in this challenge. Made four backgrounds but you probably will never see the others! :-) I followed the tutorial and made a card for my sister's upcoming retirement. She will have plenty of time to watch the snow come down and drink her coffee and not have to go out on the roads. I know, I know, that's a tea cup. ...it can hold coffee too...ha, ha!

Well, I like this one so I hope you will use the others. Or at least, punch or die-cut them! The teapots in the background combined with the brushstrokes in the paint give a great earthenware impression - totally different to that beautiful china cup. Love the colours. The shape is very like the remnants of a set of my grandmother's which I have downstairs.
