This is from a group of approximately 50 hand-stitched cards, 44 of those was given as a large set to my Mom, a very talented cross-stitcher, and it is, because of my Mom that I had been on a search to find a way of adding actual hand-stitching onto my cards. As I have mentioned many times, it's all because of Jennifer McGuire who introduced us to hand-stitching onto cards via specialized dies by Paper Smooches, Altenew, My Favorite Things, Frantic Stamper, and Simon Says Stamp and likely others who have created these specialized dies. They have different features, so it's important to know what you want and whose die will give you those features, such as the size of the die, whether the die has an outer edge cut, and the size and distance of the holes which will determine the thickness of yarn, size of needle used, and the intricacy of the pattern you wish to create.
This is one of a very few cards that I did NOT give to my Mom in that large set of 44 hand-stitched cards, for I sent this card to a very dear friend, Daphne in the southern US a few weeks before I traveled to Eastern Canada where my Mom lives and I gave to her the set of hand-stitched cards. Daphne and I knew each other as young children, as her Dad was our pastor, and he and his wife and family were much-loved by the whole church community. It was many years later we were reconnected via social media, and we became close friends. I introduced her to my card-making hobby, which she rapidly embraced and she is a talented painter, which she has continued to develop this artistic ability. My sister and I were very blessed to spend some time with Daphne and her husband a couple of years ago when we were traveling in Florida. That time just FLEW BY and I truly hope that she and her husband will be able to come here in Southern Ontario when life settles down and visit. I know that crafting will be a major part of our visit. Having Daphne as my very dear friend means having someone I can truly trust, and she is someone I admire and I learn from her especially spiritually. I thank God for bringing Daphne back into my life!!!
Thank you for taking a closer look at my card, I appreciate it. When you leave a comment on my card or on another artist's card, know that you are providing encouragement to that artist. Now that I understand what it means to receive encouragement, I have made it a priority to leave comments when I visit the Splitcoaststampers gallery.
Please be safe and be well, this is a great time to stay inside and create, what a great excuse to create on a regular basis, as it's great for us emotionally, plus we can encourage others when we send our cards to others.
