This is for today's TLC-layered gesso and yesterday's FS-congrats, Gayle. I love her varied gallery and favorited a few for future reference. This is what I cased: Toile Blue Jay by gl1253 at Splitcoaststampers
Gorgeous card, Gayle! I kept the basic look and colors of the card.
I enjoyed this technique a lot, Sabrina. Can't remember if I've done it before. I followed the basic directions, using wc paper and added some old dictionary scraps. I used an old but good cling stamp set with flourishes and words, like 'joy' and 'beauty is all around', but they got a little lost. I even restamped on top of all the stuff but it soaked in. I'll put them on the inside. The bird is a napkin adhered to cardstock. Probably will go to my brother, he will love the woodpecker. First Christmas in almost forever that we won't be together. Working hard to not be sad about that.

As soon as I saw your card I wondered if you had added pages of real text - patting myself on the back for getting that right. Your flourishes come through the paint layer quite nicely and I am even catching some of the word JOY. Just an overall lovely bg with that gold glittery texture paste

I too like the addition of the dictionary page scraps. When I was tidying my desk yesterday and throwing out bits I thought I'd never get round to using, I held onto scraps of my dictionary pages. The gold glitter paint is beautiful. So is that woodpecker.

I really enjoy all of the texture on this background. The colors you chose are so serene and remind me of a snowy day. Thanks for making 2 cards and looking through my gallery. I'm glad you found something you liked.

I luv this male Downy woodpecker - they are so funny to watch at our feeders. You did a great job creating a pretty and interesting background for him. Sorry you will miss being with your brother this Christmas. The last time I saw any family members was at the funeral for my oldest brother in February. A difficult year for so many.

Your bg is so artful...I really like the gold painted strips...very subtle. And that woodpecker image is great...it was made to go on this! I understand about Christmas....we're still figuring that out...I'm getting tired of being on my own, too.

I see a little frilly edge peeking out under the bark-like layered background. Such a fun touch to this mixed media melange. I delight in those gold glitter ***** willow-like tendrils that keep popping up.

I am so sorry you will not be able to be with your brother for Christmas. It has been such a tough year. I hope thing will be lots better this time next year. Your card is really beautiful and I especially love how you used the bird from a napkin. It really is beautiful.
