I watched this on beginner watercolor Christmas Lanterns.
I lightly sketched my own lantern shape on WC paper adding some holly leaves in lieu of the pine cones. I started with my yellow & orange glow and then the holly leaves before pouncing in dark blues for my night sky. I felt like I really struggled with that today but in the end spattered "snow" hides a multitude of sins. Lastly, I added the eggplant tones for the lantern's structure then spattered white acrylic paint over my entire piece. Falling snow complete, I decided maybe it needed some accumulated snow on the lantern and holly. This was a scary maneuver for me and I wasn't sure I really liked it in the end but I think it's growing on me . . . Mounted my watercolor on white cardstock and added a die cut sentiment.

Wow! Not sure you like it? I love it. The eggplant is awesome and I like how your snow is melting and dripping a bit from the lantern. Beautiful!!!!

Your snow on the lantern was the first thing I noticed and I love it! Interesting how we can be so critical of ourselves but others just love the look! Your lantern glow is gorgeous, just right on a snowy night! I really like the look of your holly leaves too. Beautiful winter lantern watercolor!

Your lantern is fabulous! I love the holly leaves and the snow! I was thinking that the scene from the tutorial needed some pine branch with the pinecones, but I didn't put it in mine. At least you were original. I just did the tutorial as it was~
