Watercolor a fall scene! ACK! So there I was watching this video and deciding I can do this. Then I remembered about half way through my scene that I watercolor like a third grader. Perhaps I would be better than a third grader if I would buy watercolor paints. But I don't know where I would put them. So I did this with my Spectrum Aqua markers and at least I was good at leaving the sun and reflection on the water. I'll give myself that. But I cheated and drew in the branch with the marker and smoothed out my water/mountain line. I made two of these at once figuring one of them might be usable. And I'm glad I did, because it took me until I hit the second card to figure out how to hold my brush to make perfect leaves. This is useful information that I could see myself applying in the future. I stamped a large sentiment over it specifically in front of my mountain/water line that was a bit wonky and now it's a Thanksgiving card.

Jen, you did a great job on this and like you I actually found the "stupid" leaves to be the hardest part. You have a lovely transition between the mountains and water - personally, I think it should have a bit of a jagged edge - that's more what it really looks like when the waves are lapping against a protrusion ( at least that's how it looks on Elephant Butte where we used to go boating)

I LOVE how you did the water....lovely watercolor technique. I also like how you balanced that strong element of the hanging leafy branch by a bold sentiment.....much better composition-wise, IMO. A lovely card for sure!

Beautiful, Jen. Nice to hear you tell us what you learned from the video. This is what it's all about. Your scene is beautiful with the sun glow and majestic mountains. Lovely take on the water and those vibrant leaves. Happy you joined us this week. TFS

Indeed, you could do this and you made a gorgeous Fall scene. I wish I had stuck with this scene instead of straying away to something else. Your sun on the mountains and the water reflections look great. Also, good job with the mountains and leaves. I think most people find the leaves problematic.

I think this looks great. I love the sun and reflection on the water. Watercolor is not the easiest medium and it is seldom a "defined" look to me; so I love the lovely washes of color you achieved. Your leaves look great so I think you have "figured" that one out. I agree with Holly that your layout is fabulous. It really is a beautiful Fall card, Jen. TFS the card and your experience. It helps me learn too and I learn more the missteps even more than the successes.
