Greetings! Itâs so nice to be with you again for another Color Challenge. Our host this week is Jeanne and she chose Cinnamon Cider, Crushed Curry, and Calypso Coral for this weekâs colors. The colors remind me of Fall. As far as Iâm concerned, cool, crisp Fall weather canât come soon enough. Itâs still in the mid 90âs here, but a slight cooling trend is supposedly on itâs way.
For my card, I used a new stamp set from Altenew called Paint-A-Flower Carnations. I decided to try colored pencils. I donât often use colored pencils because I struggle with blending. How will I get better if I donât keep trying, right? I had to blend several colors before I was satisfied. I hope you can see from the photo, that I used a darker shade around the carnationâs edges. My favorite green (the dessert option) was used on the leaves and stems.
A bit of ink blending around the carnation images puts them in the spotlight. At least that was my intention! A bold birthday greeting, coordinating cardstock, and a top folding card base finish everything up.
I hope you will give these gorgeous colors a try.

You did a great job with your colored pencils, Marianne! I can see the subtle shading you created on your carnations. Love the blended glow behind the flowers, too! What a pretty birthday card!

Marianne, I love the soft shade of color you sponged around your beautifully colored flowers. I've not used colored pencils in a while, sounds like I need to dig mine out. Thanks for the beautiful inspiration. I'm so happy you're our guest designer!
