This card was made for two card challenges with the theme "Halloween". One had an optional theme of using at least 3 Halloween colors, but NOT to include bats!
One of my favorite Halloween stamp sets is Stampin' Up! (SU) retired 2014 "Tee-Hee-Hee". It's central theme is witches, and one of the sentiments is a really fun one, "Whether You're a Good Witch or a Bad Witch - It's all about the Shoes".
With that as my starting point, I dug into my collection of Halloween pattern papers and found this wonderful paper set called "Motley Monsters" that featured a witch. I fussy cut her out with paper snips, then scanned her on my digital cutting machine, and cut out three black shapes in her outline that I stacked and glued to the back of the pattern piece to reinforce her and to raise her up a bit off the front of the card.
I wanted some fun outline shape to put her on, and chose an old set of label dies I hadn't used in ages. I cut a white one out to mount her on, but the next size up was too big to make a nice trim mat. So I die cut the same sized shape as the white piece, then scanned it on my ScanNCut. Using the tools in the machine, I added 0.08" larger border around the die cut piece, then cut it out of black cardstock for my mat.
The sentiment stamp was a three-line stamp, so used my scissors to cut the three lines apart so I could stamp one on the top and the other at the bottom of the witch panel.
I then cut a piece of pumpkin shaped pattern paper from the same set as the witch, and glued it to the front of the black card base.
On the inside of the card, I realized that the third line of the sentiment would be too small, so used my word processing program on my computer to re-create the "It's All About the Shoes" line in 16 point font (the font was AR Christy) and printed it out on light weight white cardstock (my darn printer won't take cardstock any heavier than about 40).
I then cut the sheet to 4"x 5-1/4" with the saying at the top, and used my stamp positioner to stamp the shoes in four different colors found on the front of the card, leaving plenty of room to write a Halloween greeting. I already know the perfect friend I'm going to send it to!!!
I am rating the difficulty of this card as a "3" due to the need to fussy cut, and create my own custom black mat for the front. If you have a witch stamp and mat shape that works for you, it would easily be only a "1"!
