This card was made for a sketch challenge that had the optional theme "hot or cold beverage". I don't have any beverage stamps of any sort, but I do have in my stash a specialty designer series paper (DSP) that has teacups and teapots in black and white. I chose one of the fancy teacups and colored it with a green Copic marker, then trimmed it with a gold oil-based Zig marker.
The ornate gold background is a Stampin' Up! (SU) specialty DSP that is precut. I thought the formal look of the gold panel would go nicely with a formal teacup.
Behind the gold panel are two strips of paper, one green and the other a copper color per the sketch. I didn't want them on top of my gold panel, so tucked them behind for a more subtle look. On top of the paper I die cut a scalloped border on a strip of gold cardstock, and glued it sort of as if it is a "table" the teacup is sitting on.
I felt the teacup was "lost" amongst all the gold, so die cut a stitched circle from black cardstock. I adhered the teacup to the black circle using adhesive foam strips, then glued the circle on top of the scalloped gold piece.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "2" out of a possible "5". I haven't attached a sentiment yet, but it will either be a "thinking of you" or birthday card.
