This card started out as a panel for the watercolour challenge last week. It actually was looking ok and was my 2nd attempt, but me being me I never know when to stop. It ended up looking like a watercoloured blob so I put gesso all over it and it then it resembled a grey blob with some colour showing through lol
I kept staring at it until I read the Mixed Media challenge and thought I could salvage my panel. I started by sewing around it as my DGD wanted to learn to sew and this was the first thing I had to hand to practice on to show her. Not bad for someone who can't sew.
Then out came a stencil and I'm pushing gesso through that and had white roses on top of my now grey watercoloured BG. It actually was starting to look sort of like MM and I'd already used more than 2 mediums so I was meeting the challenge.
That's when the paints came out again and I was adding more colour and my white roses were now sort of pinkish/purplish. More stencils out and I'm adding dots.
That's when I thought of a collage effect and had my paper dolls out. This girl looked as though she may get into a little mischief and hence the stamped quote that I cut up, added my journalling pen around the edges and plonked on top..but first adding the text flower and chipboard flower. Oh yep and washi tape to cover up any white bits lol.
Don't you love it when a panel you thought you would have to toss suddenly becomes something else. Not sure what I will do with this but I had fun and it's very mixed lol.
TFL. Happy day

I love those Tim Holtz paper dolls. This fabulously textured bg looks awesome behind her. That is a naughty little sentiment that will be sure to bring a chuckle!!!

Ummm what do you mean, you don't know what to do with this. Three suggestions, frame it, put it in an art journal or send it to me!!!! Oh my gosh Jayne this is absolutely fabulous. I love how you rescued tbe background and your girl and sentiment couldn't be better. This is everything i love about MM, you nailed it my west coast Aussie mate. Stay safe in paradise.
