I've done this technique before with table salt but this time I actually had Kosher salt and love the effect I got with that. What I didn't think through before I started was how I would use this . . . I wanted to get my piece started so it would dry while I has at the doctors. I just grabbed the 3 nearest reinkers, misted my glossy cardstock, applied the ink with an aqua pen, sprinkled on the Kosher salt misted one more time and headed out the door.
When I got back my piece was dry with interesting bubbles throughout the bg. That part was cool . . but the real conundrum was what to do with this unusual (especially the peony) background - trial & error lead me to this fantasy land . . .stamped the vines Then stenciled in the fairies & Mushrooms -if you look closely you can see some of the texture from the bg in the mushroom caps. Finished with some black Nuvo drops & crystal stickles.

So glad this led you to fantasy land. This is just awesome! I used Kosher salt, also, and thought it worked in a way that I liked it. I love your vivid colors and how the salt worked on your card. Fabulous and beautiful.

It looks like an alcohol ink bg. Fantastic colors and your muse was right on target, whether you knew it or not. It's all so rewarding when one's skills are tested with results like this.

You really did an amazing job with your salt. I agree with Lori, looks like alcohol inks. The colors are so vibrant, and perfect for the fantasyland you created. Wonderful creation. TFS

these look like the perfect colors for a fantasy scene Linda, if I had not read the story first I would have totally assumed it was planned out from start to finish
Your background is perfect for a fairy world! Such brilliant colors. Your salt made wonderful patterns! I was like you in that I knew it would take drying time so while I was ZOOMing with friends on Friday night I made a bunch of backgrounds but really didn't have an idea in mind as to what I was going to do with them.
