Big thanks to Karen for some rather classic Christmas colors for our Christmas in July challenge this week. Perfect for going back to my beloved poinsettias. Since we moved to an urban condo I frequently decorate with poinsettias rather than a Christmas tree, preferably big dark red ones.
Anyway...I die cut several layers of Poinsettia petals and holly like leaves from Shimmery White Paper. I was thinking about a white poinsettia with the Cherry Cobbler color in the background but then I saw a red poppy on white/sahara colored base and couldn't resist going back to a red poinsettia. So... lucky for me it is easy to watercolor Shimmery White paper and that's where I ended up. Since the watercolored petals were a bit on the pale side, I took a fine brush and painted some more intense colors on each petal as veins.
This card gets a little extra texture from an embossing folder and pearls.
I sure hope you will be able to join us in the challenge this week. It's the perfect time to get a bit ahead on your Christmas cards.

Love your dimensional touch of adding the darker veins to the poinsettia, I've not used shimmer paper in quite some time, you've inspired me to get it out and use it! Your design is beautiful as usual! TFS
