In less than a month, I will be 68 years old. How did this happen?! In September will be my 50th class reunion, which I will not attend because I don't trust that it is safe. I had a high school class of about 560 people and while I doubt we'll even have half that number, the committee refuses to reschedule. Enough said about that.
I am a Leo. I was pondering yesterday's F4A, I like kitties but am not inspired by them artistically like some of you wonderful kittie people. I don't drink so couldn't do pina colada, don't even own any alcohol related stamps and don't have a coconut stamp. Then I remembered this lion wood mounted stamp, bought at a store called Banner Craft so many years ago. I bought it because I'm a Leo. So this card is an ode to me, myself and I, because Leos are like that: arrogant, stubborn, self-centered, lazy, inflexible. Hah...can't we all be like that sometimes?! We are also creative, passionate, generous, warm-hearted, cheerful, humorous...ditto on that. I'm more introverted than Leos are supposed to be, but I do like theater, taking holidays, being admired, expensive things, bright colors, fun with friends. I (used to) see friends more than my family.
So enough about me.....(don't say it!). Stamped the lion in several inks layered on top, masked him, stenciled the sun (because the sun sets and rises on me), added some metallics on top of that and made myself a little party hat because I'm a party animal (no). I loved this funny sentiment from IO.
Don't worry, this card isn't for me, it will be sent to a good friend who is also a Leo. But I could make another for me, myself and I. Oops, forgot to include my inspiration. There is a handmade lion rug on the site...really super site, by the way, I love quirky things: https://www.eyeon.design/products/handmade-animal-rug

Ha....you are so funny. I enjoyed reading your post today. Yes, how did we get to be adults???? Good work on your inspiration...from a rug to a party hat. I like it a lot. Don't blame you for not going to your class reunion. I am staying far away from people, as much as possible. Of course, I do have to have groceries and like to go into the store to get them.

This is wonderful, Jean! Yeah...I think I'll go back to being a kid..this adulting isn't as much fun as I thought it would be, lol. A lion for the Leo..hmm..not sure what an image of Mercury would be (Gemini, here). But I was born during a solar eclipse so I have lots of Sun & Moon stamps.

Great post Jean - I'm in the same age boat as you and even have my birthday the same month but earlier as I am a Virgo - the committee did cancel our 50th reunion scheduled for Nov - so I'm glad of that. When I first opened your post - I thought it was a dog (shows how we just glance at things and get an impression!) How perfect for you to use a Lion - glad he got some ink AND a party hat!

Aww! Thank you for sharing a little more about you! That's one of my favorite things about our SCS community. I love learning about the artists that post in the challenges! I love how you came up with your party animal! Great hat!

Fantastic card Jean and a rollicking good write up too. I am a Leo as well so I especially enjoyed what you wrote here. Fantastic Lion image and the sparkly party hat is especially appropriate. The sun rays for added adoration made me chuckle- Love it! ~Karen.

Oh, this tickled me pink! Love all those details...funny, but I’ve already decided not to go to my HS reunion next year as I’d rather spend my money to be in the real physical presence of fellow artists I’ve ‘grown’ up with here on SCS. You can just feel kindred spirits. Your Leo with the party hat is the perfect representation of you, Ethel!

So fun, Jean. Fab Lion, fab sentiment, and fab stenciling. Such a great card. Sometimes when I am not thinking (like just waking up), I am still young and it is a shock to realize that I am old. The mirror gets me a few time a week. Your card speaks to me. Hugz

I so enjoyed your write up...I hope you end up keeping this fantastic card because it seems like it was meant for you. That lion is gorgeous and I love the party hat.
