I feel like my whole life is about found objects. I'm always looking for stuff that gives me ideas. So this challenge is perfect for me. Thanks, Pol.
My son in law likes to work with wood. He whittles, carves, makes furniture, utensils, toys for the kids. I like to hang out in his work space, love the smell of the wood. Last time I spent time with him, he was planing some black walnut and I saved some of the shavings. Both of us looked at the one and said at the same time 'that's a rose.'
I selected one of the Brusho backgrounds I did for the TLC a few weeks ago. I added some Gina K metallic blush ep to the edges. It's not copper ep, it's sort of rosy colored, just love it. I glued one of the strips of the shavings to the card, added another strip of 'something, something' from my stash, stamped a sentiment on the same piece, added a little of the ep to the 'rose' and a paper leaf I saved from a cupcake.

That is so cool that the rose is made of walnut wood shavings. I know what you mean that art elements seem to be in any object one can find. Great card you created with the "rose."

fun mixed media, pretty background and pretty rose Jean, Great you could keep some of the shavings!! I love to put my nose in my husband's workspace and sometimes I feel like a little thief...I only show him what I've done once it's too late to give it back lol

My grandfather was a cabinetmaker, and I spent a lot of time with him in his shop. I love the smell of wood, shellacs and his homemade glue as a result. My favorite part was watching him use the lathe. I can almost smell the shaving rose and strip on your card Jean! Just beautiful!

WOW you win the prize for most unique found object....these wood shavings are so cool and the black walnut color does have a rosy tint to it. This is wonderful...love it to bits (as Susie would say). And I had to laugh about the leaf....saved from a cupcake..HA Thank goodness for cupcakes!

Does the wood imbue a nice fragrance to the card? The inclination to sniff a rose is so strong, I wonder what aromatic this lovely card embodies.

Awesome work, bfnm! It looks like a ball gown. Love the littlest touches, the sprinkling of the ep inside the rose, and the flouncy wood shaving, the cupcake leaf. Black walnut is just the best!
