Dr Sonja, welcome to hostessing the Sketch Challenge! I loved your first sketch and while I veered off course, I do have all your basic elements. I've long loved the comic pages and still daily save it to read last. When I saw the 4th of July Mutts, I knew it was destined to become a card.
The quote by Gerald Stanley Lee spoke to me so deeply. "America is a tune. It must be sung together"
I used Judikins people background stamp inked with Adirondack 'Red Pepper' on glossy paper. The comic strip was mounted onto heavy white cs. I used two circle dies cut from SU cs to accentuate the circle element. The black panel was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder, 'Allegro'. I added the Artistic Outpost' Flag for the triangular piece.
The header from an old hymnal was torn out and used at the top of my card. Here's a link to . I'll bet you'll be singing along with him till the end and feel his joy. We so need to be singing together, don't you think?
Thanks for stopping by...

Yes, I saw immediately that the flag was the banner. That gritty black panel reflects the sorrow I feel at the persistent divisiveness that seems to continually fed by selfish, self centered people. I am glad that you reminded of the hope in music to cancel out the rift.

Be still, my heart, my bfnm is in a gallery! Maybe you have been and I've missed them?? Since I'm the beneficiary of some of your comics, you know that I love them too. When I saw your title, I was puzzled, I should have known. I love Ray Charles' version, I can picture him singing it. I have an aversion to our national anthem being jumped up, rearranged, noodled with, but I think the other patriotic songs are fair game. This is just splendid!
