I made this card for this week's Featured Stamper who is cathymac. I am a HUGE fan of Cathy's work so it is a great pleasure to see her selected for this honor.
This card started out with the poinsettia stamp and leaves. Last October I went to a Christmas card class at a scrapbooking store. We made 10 cards that day. The reason I bring this up is because the coloring on this poinsettia is not up to par (for me). I was trying to color while the table was being bumped and while people waiting to sit down and color were sighing, yawning, posturing and making snide comments that I took 2 minutes longer to color than anyone else did. At that event, the people just slapped a color down and called it good so trying to add shading was NOT ok at all. I actually giggle about this now. When I got home, I tried to fix the coloring, but it was not going to happen. So, I filed this flower and leaves away for "someday."
As I was going through Cathy's gallery for the 3rd time, I kept returning to this beautiful card: SC736 Joyous Christmas by cathymac at Splitcoaststampers. I kept thinking to myself, "if I only had a poinsettia stamp." Then I finally remembered I have this poinsettia image colored and all ready to go. Yay!
Took a card front and cut it on the diagonal, then embossed the top half with the StampinUp Holly embossing folder. Die cut the border die and tucked it under the bottom panel. Layered up the card panel, and heat embossed a sentiment using gold embossing powder.
I LOVED Cathy's pink poinsettia and I love this card design so much that I am thinking of getting a poinsettia stamp now so I can make more cards. I adore Cathy's water coloring on her card, but I love to admire when it comes to water coloring because that is something that is beyond me. Enjoy your well deserved week in the spotlight Cathy.
Thank you Kittie for the fabulous challenge and thank you for looking! ~Karen.

Wow Karen, this card just jumps off the screen. Its beautiful. Fabulous job on the CASE too. That gold border die adds such an elegant touch and ties all your gold elements together so nicely. And I love this layout with embossing at the top and the diagonal cut. Stunning card, my friend.

I love this, Karen. Aside from that gorgeous colored poinsettia, I am in awe of your interesting designed background. The partial holly ef. and gold diecut and stitched angled panel adds so much. Love the gold stickled center and gold embossed sentiment! Wonderful Christmas card!

Wow, this is amazing. I love the gorgeous poinsettia with the bold color and fab shading. The design cutting the card diagonally to tuck the beautiful gold border and adding embossing was brilliant.
