My original process was to match the colors in the inspiration photo but it morphed into rusty sea metal....
Steps:
Coat white paper with gesso
Add old hymnal page and coat with white gesso leaving some hymnal words
Add layer of rusty gouache color
Mix blue acrylic paint and white crackle medium and coat.
Stencil on some Andy Skinner words
Heat tool
Cut into strips
Punch holes
Distress edges andcrackle
Glue down sections
Cover with clear gesso
Stencil on Stamperia Pipes
Stamp Sentiment on scratch paper and distress
Add some by the tide stamps (Nantucket, coral, fish)
So fun - I loved making this - seems like a lot but I didn't let things dry much, hurried them along with heat tools, etc. so it wasn't hard.

I like this Utilitarian steampunk look. Not something I would associate with your usual style but isn't it fun to cross boundries ? ? ! Definitely a sentiment for our times!

When I saw the distressed section, I thought of you, Nancy. Your colors and design are definitely distressed, even the sentiment looks like it's been in the ashes~
