When one has a disaster with water, one is forced to go through things that got wet and see if there is anything saveable. That is what most of this project is about. The short story is that the hose from the basement to the fridge for ice cubes sprung a leak. I had water all over the kitchen and basement. This happened at around midnight. I thought it was funny that water helped create this project. And, to top it off, the hose was connected to hot water. So I've been making ice cubes for 8 years with hot water!
Sand and surf: the top two layers were saved from a box of cards/raks/ephemera. Top piece is handmade paper, the blue on the right is from the water damage but I thought 'so what? looks great!'. The thin water strip was from the same project, not sure of the process but looks like some kind of watered background. Some of the things I saved had to be taken apart if possible but I think the two pieces were together at one time.
I added the sandpaper, shells from Sanibel a friend gave me and my own melted Tyvek project that I thought looked like some bubbles. If you would like to know how to do it, check out Joggles blog. Thanks to Lori for the gift of the Tyvek; this technique is very much fun; one never knows what one will get. Those are my favorite techniques...the unexpected! Has something unexpected happened to you lately?

Love your beautiful piece of artwork here! You are my kind of person, to make something beautiful out of what others may see as a disaster and unsaveable. That is a wonderful quality!

I'm impressed that you got a card done for this challenge after the unexpected help getting your things wet! I'm not sure I would have been in the mood to create with all that happening. Your card turned out fabulous! Your Tyvek is really cool. I had not heard of that stuff before. Love your "sand" and water with the little striped fish!

Oh I am so sorry to hear about that hose but your card turned out great. I hope that you were able to salvage the rest of your stuff. I always fear that my craft room will flood. I have a bath tub right over my craft table and it has dropped water on me when DH has used the tub. We need a plumber out to look at the leak before it does some real damage. Great card for the challenge.
