This is my sample for CC796. Stef is our hostess and she chose real red, garden green and pool party for her color trio. Dessert Option this week is use your favorite yellow.
When I saw these colors, I thought of Christmas. So I decided to use this cardinal stamp from Stampin'-Up. I colored the cardinal with real red Stampin' Blends and highlighted with a bit of cherry cobbler. I used the daffodil delight Stampin' blend for the beak and that also covered dessert.
For the branch and leaves I used Prismacolor Pencils in a shade that matched garden green and a shade that matched soft suede (neutral). The sentiment is from the same stamp set. I attached the cardinal and the sentiment banner with dimensional adhesive. I wanted it lifted off the background slightly.
My background paper is from the feels like frost designer collection. I love this paper and just bought another complete pack to create more Christmas cards. It's retired but I found it on Ebay.
That's my card, I hope I have given you a bit of inspiration for a way to use these colors. Can't wait to see all your creations in our gallery.

The snow covered branches on the tree are such a truly beautiful backdrop for your cardinal. So beautiful and peaceful looking. I really miss cardinals, we don't have them out here in Washington that I have ever seen. Your card is a lovely memory of my earlier NJ home.

Oh, wow! Mary, this card is so beautiful! I sure miss the cardinals we loved so much when we lived in Maryland. Did you know there are none here? These colors made me think of Christmas, too! What a great coloring job you did--true mixed media! Love this!

I was going to ask you how you made the awesome background until I read your description - it looks like the old shaving cream technique and makes a beautiful background for your lovely cardinal!
