I made this card for this week's Teapot Challenge. Lisa is our hostess and she has chosen the theme of Pink and Purple Flowers for this week's recipient. I really struggled with the story of this week's recipient so needed some time before I could make a card for her, but this challenge was tailor-made for me, so I knew I would do it.
Where I live in the Midwest, peonies are in full bloom and we are all having fun bringing them into the house and putting them into little vases. Even though I used a poppy stamp, I did my best to make them look like peonies. The flowers and vase were colored with copic markers and die cut with coordinating dies. The white trellis piece behind the flowers is Penny Black and was given to me by DebbieInOC- thank you Debbie! The butterfly was stamped, colored with copic markers, and fussy cut out. The hello was die cut out.
Assembled the scene and glued everything into place, but the vase looked like it was floating in thin air. So, I drew a fine line with a micron pen to denote a table top, then I sponged Bashful Blue ink horizontally across the bottom to look like woodgrain, then I sponged straight upwards above the line to give the look of a wall. This is more visible in real life than the photo.
Thank you Lisa for the great challenge this week and thanks for looking too! ~Karen.

Karen everything about this makes me smile. Your colouring and card design are terrific. I love how you grounded the gorgeous vase of flowers. I was thinking about you when I read Sandy's story. We are blessed to have you in Splitcoaststamperville my friend.

I was so glad to see that someone else was just getting this challenge posted today. Your Poppy/Peonies are beautiful! The blue card base and yellow butterfly really bring a summery feel to the whole card along with the flowers.

Oh what a beautiful card, Karen. Sandy will love it. Love how you did the sentiment. My peonies looked wonderful this week, until we got storms and wind. TFS
