This collage was waiting for Jean's Crinkled Chalk technique. I had been designing the grapes and wine card, but got stuck for the right background. This solved the problem! I started the composition on a , splattered with an old bottle of blue Delta Glimmer Mist. Wasn't much glitter it , in fact it is chalky, but it worked and led me to the theme. I colored the grapes with watercolor pencils. I stamped the glass on a clear label and fussy cut it out, laying it over the sentiment. The "old friend" was also stamped on a label and cut out. The scrapbook stickers came in very handy. Had to throw an old book page in there somehow to go with the Oliver Goldsmith sentiment, "I love everything old! Old friends, old times, old manners, old books, old wines."

What a clever way of creating the wine glass! And what lovely looking wines, especially that zinfandel. I like, of course, the book page, and I think the crinkled background is perfect - it reminds me of sitting under vines in Greece or France. Just add a hint of blue for the copper sulphate spray and it's definitely vines!

It is interesting how in art things often grow organically out of what it is you last did to the piece. Yours is a good example of mulling things over in your head and watching how they grow as you progress.
