I created this card for a friend whose mother recently passed away. Mindy Eggen's lesson on Day 9 of Online Card Classes' "Spring Card Camp 2" inspired the design.
For my mountains, I used a square die to do partial die cutting from 5 colors of cardstock. I cut a wide strip of each color, and drew a guideline parallel to the long side. I lined up the die on the diagonal, with the corners at that line. Then I ran it through my die cutting machine, with the lower half of the die hanging out of the sandwich.
I die cut 2 circles for the sun, one from yellow & the other orange. I also used a 4" circle die to cut from light blue cardstock. I glued my sun pieces together, then glued them and my mountains to the large circle. I used my scissors to trim off the excess from the mountains. I could have die cut, but with all the layers it was pretty thick, so I used my scissors instead.
I stamped my greeting in Morning Mist ink on a scrap of the same yellow cardstock I'd used for the sun, and glued it over the mountains, making sure it was parallel to the bottom edges of the mountains. Finally I glued the whole circle to a white card base.
