Mary is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has asked us to make a card using Blueberry Bushel, Lovely Lipstick and Balmy Blue. The dessert option is to use enamel dots on your card.
Last week I watched another video from Jennifer McGuire, and just had to try her technique. I chose a Distress Ink color (Blueprint Sketch) I thought was close to Blueberry Bushel, but now I think I should have used Chipped Sapphire. Oh, well, same color family, and close, I hope!
The technique involves covering a piece of heavy white cardstock with Distress Ink, direct to paper, and then running it through a die-cutting machine with a rubber pad under it and a stencil on top, covered with a baby wipe. When it goes through the machine, two things happen: The design of the stencil creates a raised/embossed texture on the cardstock, and the baby wipe removes some of the distress ink where the cardstock isn't covered by the stencil. What a cool result! I will definitely be using this technique again!
I'm excited about one other thing on this card. I figured out how to cut a shadow layer behind a die-cut using my Scan 'n Cut! Took me all afternoon, though!
Oh, and I sorta get dessert. The center of my flower is a self-adhesive dot, as close as I could come to an enamel dot.
Thanks for stopping by, please take good care of yourself. I hope you can find some time to make a card using these pretty colors this week.

Wow Barbara your background is just stunning and that big red bloom is so gorgeous! (I tried a few backgrounds with this technique as well and it's a great one). I love, love, love your card!!
