The Tea Party this week is for Lori who is missing out on her beach side holiday this year - so we are bringing the beach to her.
For this card I chose a Distress Oxides background from my stash and a lovely stamp by Katey Sue Designs with a lovely little mermaid snoozing in her pretty little pearl bed - all set in an underwater garden.
The colours for this card don't really come up nicely in the photo - but the background is a lovely aqua/blue colour - something like what you would find in a picture of tropical coloured seas.
The Distress Oxides background was made by inking up a small acrylic block and misting it with water and then smooching it around on white card till you were happy with the inky coverage. Dried before adding the next colour - adding colour till you are happy with the mix.
The mermaid was then coloured using water colour pencils and water colour paints. Highlight wit glitter pens and Wink of Stella to give a sparkle to the mermaid. I fussy cut the mermaid and the little sentiment after colouring. The underwater garden was then created using Lavinia Stamps and adding glitter glue and liquid pearls.
I will get this in the mail now - but word of warning - mail isn't moving very quickly from here the moment. Cards I sent back in March still haven't arrived in Canada and Ireland.
Hope you enjoy this tropical beachy get away.

I love the way you turned your stash background into a lovely underwater garden for that sweet mermaid. The sentiment is sweet, I love seahorses.
Planning to send an e-card to my niece in NSW!

Helen I hope you've added the 4 to the address number I don't know if I forgot to add it when I've made the challenge post but Shirl told us there was a 4 missing at the end of the postal code.
Your card is Stunning!! I love all the texture and the pretty mermaid, the underwater scene is amazing, it looks really if the bubbles are going up!!

What a sweet mermaid indeed. I adore this cute image and will definitely be visiting that site. Love your background as well. I can only imagine how stunning it must be if you say it looks better in person. Beautiful card.
