I made this card for today's Inspiration Challenge. Amy is our hostess and she has chosen an amazing site called, "A Cottage In The City." Oh my, I was in trouble immediately - fun! I love cottage style, but really struggle with it so I decided to challenge myself by making a cottage-style card today based on this gorgeous cotton fall wreath: acottageinthecity.com/collections/fall-halloween/products/cotton-fall-wreath. I actually thought about making this card a fall card, then decided that I really need Christmas cards so went that route instead.
To create the ship lathe look, I started by scoring the front panel every 5/8" using a score board. Folded the scores back gently, then ran a close to cocoa ink pad along the crease to add color to each scored area. Smoothed this piece out and adhered to a card base.
Die cut a twigg wreath and adhered that to the card front. Die cut 2 leafy wreaths using light and dark green cardstock. Sponged matching ink onto the lighter green leafy die. Die cut the berry sprig using white and colored the branches brown and the berries red using E74 and R29 copic markers. Punched out the poinsettia's using a punch and white suede paper. Each flower is 2 layers. Colored white pearls with R29 and R39 copic markers and let dry, then adhered to flower centers. Stamped just the cardinal from the HFC stamp set and colored with R24 ,R27, R29 & R39 copic markers and fussy cut out.
Die cut the sentiment from red cardstsock and glued directly onto the card front. Tied a bow using linen thread and adhered to top of wreath.
It took me all day to make this card (which is ridiculous!), but in the end, I am happy I accomplished what I set out to make.
Thank you Amy for this fabulous challenge today and thank you for looking. ~Karen.
