I'm back with another card. I couldn't help myself, I had to do this. My inspiration is the the Algebra I vintage journal. I can't tell you how much I want this but apparently this particular style isn't available. Wish they'd remove it so I'm not whining about it.
Here is my story: the first year I ever did Algebra was my 8th grade year. Math was always ok for me, not great, but ok. My 8th grade teacher, Mr. Stowe, was an elderly gentleman who was especially enamored with some of the cuter girls in the class and paid them a lot of attention. He would chat instead of teach or just say 'open your book and do this page.' I did horribly. He'd get angry when we'd all screw up the tests. I just shut down and decided 'nope, can't do this.' My Dad was great at math, would help me, check my work, but when it came to doing it on my own, no clue. So who is my 9th grade Algebra 1 teacher?? Yes, Mr. Stowe. He transferred from the middle school to the high school. I was done before I started, I couldn't stand him. Unfortunately I was one of those kids who needed to love (or at least respect) their teacher to learn. Then I got to Algebra 2 in my junior year, had a great teacher, but was sunk because of my background in Algebra 1.
I've had these stamps for a while, couldn't imagine how I would use them but today is the day. I still want that journal, even though I suck at Algebra. Geometry was my subject.

ahh that bites I know what you mean though a good teacher really makes all the difference since everyone learns differently.
I had calculus in high school because my dad did and it was "expected" of me to do well in pretty much everything but, my struggle was spelling. thanks goodness for spellcheck ( even when it cannot guess what I tried to say lol)

Great stamps and great story, and I love this card, Jean. I didn't have a great 8th grade Algebra experience either but mine was of my own making. Fun card. Hugz

This is wonderful! I had to laugh when I saw this. Your teacher must have been related to my Algebra teacher. I didn't like it or him. After several bad grades, my dad, the CPA, "helped" me with my homework one night. I had the privilege of informing my dad the next day that we made a "D".

I love your card Jean! Boy, can I ever relate to your math teacher story here (I am raising my hand here too). I never learned to like Algebra either and did so much better in geometry too. Yay! We both lived to tell about it though! But, I absolutely love this card and how you designed it and the fabulous colors too! How fun Jean! ~Karen

Love this, Jean! And how true about good teachers. I had the same problem in HS. I was in a combined, accelerated class that went 3 hrs & was for English, History & Math. the amount of each varied day to day & we had different teachers for each. The math teachers were horrible at communicating w/ students. I finally had to switch. turns out I was really good at math when I had a better communicating teacher.
