I love books and it is my favourite "go to" gift for our young grand nieces. Cards are the last thing the kids look at so I make them a bookmark to match the book and write a birthday/Christmas message on the back.
No prizes for guessing that two of the girls will be getting Harry Potter books next birthday. The fun part about making a bookmark to match the book, is you can venture away from pink-purple-girly-glitter and the girls still love it.
I bought this cute Polkadoodles image for a Teapot Tuesday challenge earlier this year. Both images are printed on copy paper and coloured with Prismacolour Pencils, Zest it pencil blend and highlighted with a couple of Copics.
To maximise the shine in his hair I was very, very firm handed with the Zest-it and the colourless blending pencil. The greater pressure results in more shine. Adding a Copic marker over the top makes it super shiny.
I gently rubbed the walnut stain foam blending tool over the finished image to take away that "just coloured" look, then finished off with a few more flicks of Copic E39 in his hair.
It is best to do all of this before fussy cutting, the quickest way to loose a leg or a head is by sponging on stain after it's cut out (you're welcome).
The characters looked a bit short when I put them in place, so I printed a book-stack from a Sassy Cheryl digi image and that sorted out the problem. In a 0.005 micron pen, I have written book titles on each spine.
During this lockdown I have been busy reorganising my carft goodies - guess what I found... 42,000 Julie Nutting tags - what was I thinking. I chose two different tags, spounged some distress ink over them, adhered the image using a kids glue stick, doodled a border, added some fibre ribbon stuff and job done.
Thanks very much for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in. Stay safe.

Oh, how I love this, Susie. I am reading the whole series again, on the second book. This time the large, illustrated edition. Cool artwork in here. I've lost track of how many times I have read or listened to the books. Harry Potter rocks and now I have to go and buy this stamp, thanks to your lovely card.

Oh my goodness, Susie, these are so fabulous. I don't know where to begin. If i tried your technique with the blender pencil on copy paper, I would end up with a hole in Harry's head instead of hair highlights. Your coloring is amazing and the bg is fabulouys. I love all the little details that you add.

These tags are absolutely fantastic Susie. Harry Potter rocks and so do these fabulous, personalized bookmarks. I am chuckling about you finding 42,000 bookmarks in your stash. Your grand niece's are very lucky girls indeed to have a great aunt like you Susie. ~Karen.

Outstanding color! Oh my gosh I studied your highlights and shadows forever wondering “how’d she do that?” This is amazing work! That hair! How I wish I could get that effect. I’d love to see a video by you on how this was done. I came back to it three times. What a treasure and I do hope your nieces treasure these!

so fabulous
42K eh? that was some determination to get them all counted and sorted ;)
I love how you colored these and the tip about not making the paper damp until you are done cutting is brilliant.
