Karen is challenging us with these amazing colors this week: Poppy Parade + Mango Melody + Cajun Craze with a frame fro dessert. I made a couple of cards while playing with these colors, one with dessert and one without and the skinny card without dessert won the photogenic contest.
I got going on this card because 1) I'm a little sad that one of my all time favorite embossing folders, Country Floral is retiring and 2 I need a few Mother's Day cards.
This is really a bit of a case from one of my earliest Country Floral cards. I inked up the folder with white craft ink before embossing a piece of basic Gray cardstock.
I added some wood trim to warm up the stone look with woodgrain paper from the Pressed Petals DSP. I not only embossed my greeting but also trimmed my stone piece and added a couple of die cut sprigs (Positive Thoughts dies).
The flowers from the Dressed to Impress Bundle were stamped with Basic Gray ink and colored with Blends, substituting dark Calypso for Cajun Craze which looked a lot like the color on my Cajun ink pad.
One Mother's Day card down, one to go.
Thanks so much for looking and I hope that you can play along with us this week!
There is a bit more about this card on the blog post.

This is such a beautiful Mother's Day card, Chris! The embossed panel with the white craft ink is a perfect way to soften the gray, which is a perfect neutral for these bright challenge colors (I'm coming to you for color advice in the future, just so you know LOL!). Love those cute blooms around the sentiment!

Lovely card, Chris! I'm a big fan of your technique of brayering an embossing folder with white craft ink; thanks for teaching me that! Love the little touches of woodgrain and all the texture on this pretty card!
